<div style="text-align: left;">
This one's for the kids... or the big kids alike. I made play dough for the first time (since studying childcare when I was 19) for Taj's birthday a few months ago. And I was actually astounded at how easy it was and how I nailed it first time (second time though... different story).</div>

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YIC2I8SeMPQ/XTFRKhTKlkI/AAAAAAAAGx0/yQl41Ev3Pz4V9npcOChIUeQpIYdOfESCACLcBGAs/s1600/YOGIBEARSLICE2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1068" data-original-width="1600" height="426" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YIC2I8SeMPQ/XTFRKhTKlkI/AAAAAAAAGx0/yQl41Ev3Pz4V9npcOChIUeQpIYdOfESCACLcBGAs/s640/YOGIBEARSLICE2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This is seriously the perfect afternoon combo of chewy + crunchy + chocolatey + sweet to go with your cuppa... whilst there being very little sweetness in here at all.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I love a piece of slice. I'll take slice over cake any day. Over cupcakes. A cookie though... ooooh we might have a draw. It's gotta be a chewy cookie though. So this slice will not disappoint. You've got the chewy crumbly base layer. You've got the smooth creamy middle. And of course the chocolate on top. Which you can play with - make it a thick layer to ooze richness and texture. Or keep it thin for more crunch.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Slice the lot and freeze, 'cause I think it tastes best coming straight out of the freezer this way.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Enjoy!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #3d85c6;">
BASE</span></h3>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<i>3/4 cup almonds</i></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<i>3/4 cup quinoa flakes</i></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<i>1 tsp vanilla</i></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<i>1 tsp psyllium husks</i></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<i>5 Tbsp melted butter</i></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<i>2 Tbsp almond butter</i></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
In a food processor, bliss the almonds and quinoa flakes until crumbly. Add the rest and blitz til combined. Press into a lined loaf tin and bake at 180 degrees for 25 minutes.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Allow to cool.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #3d85c6;">
MIDDLE</span></h3>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<i>1/2 cup cashew butter</i></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<i>2 Tbsp coconut oil</i></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<i>1 Tbsp maple syrup</i></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Combine all in a saucepan, warming enough to stir together until well combined. Pour this over the cooled base layer. Chill in the fridge til firm.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #3d85c6;">
CHOCCIE TOP</span></h3>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<i>1/3 cup cacao butter</i></div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<i>1/3 cup maple syrup</i></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Melt coconut oil and cacao butter, then whisk in cacao powder and maple til combined. Pour over the middle layer and refrigerate til set.</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
It seems that Winter has arrived in full force making the entire east coast of Australia a chilly ice box over night this week! And just as quickly I've heard so many people say they've got the sniffles or a cough, or the kids are unwell, Aunty June got the flu, the kids are off school today, the list goes on.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So without a little for-thought, and preventative health support, we might be the next ones.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I did a live video last week in my ✨Good Vibes Oily Tribe Facebook Group ✨and thought I'd share what I spoke about here as this information can benefit anyone and be used by anyone, for Winter Wellness prevention before the lurgies set in.</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I've just come back from the <b><span style="font-size: large;">doTERRA Australia/New Zealand Convention</span></b> and it's taken me a good week to really find the time and space to digest what it was. And beside incredible oils obviously, for me, my biggest memories when I close my eyes and think about it, are <span style="color: #3d85c6; font-size: large;">Community. Connection. Soul sisters. Friendships. Human spirit. Rising against adversity. Standing up for health. Freedom of choice. Empowerment. Positivity. </span>And knowing I'm in the right place, doing what I believe in.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
I woke up the other week and didn’t feel the best ever. Taj had a runny nose and had been clingier and feeding off me more than usual, and two work mates also told me they didn’t feel so good... so perhaps something was going round (and sleeping half the night in Tajs bed didn’t help either). </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So, as soon as I got up feeling wrecked I whipped out a bunch of my current fav's for the season. And this is my apothecary for the few days that followed:<br>

They are Taj's cooling aid when his temp gets high, his calming and grounding support when his emotions are all over the place, his comfort and his skin soothing for cuts, scrapes, bites and bruises.</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
About a month ago I posted this in my Instagram stories with loads of private replies, so I then posted it in my feed, again with loads of comments, and promised to write a post on how it was all going - the no coffee thing and what I was replacing it with.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Now the reason behind this was because there was a period of a few weeks where Taj's sleep was rough as guts and I wasn't coping the best ever. So instead of my decaf I asked B to make me his (regular, organic, caffeinated) coffee one morning (still Bulletproof style of course). And oh-my-holy-diggity-dang it was soooooo delicious! So it crept in daily again, and then maybe a second one (straight up black or iced) at lunch time... and it took me a while to notice it but two things happened:</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Recently I got sick. Yep true story. And it had been so long since I was previously sick that I honestly couldn't remember when it was... even with a huge house move from Cairns, pregnancy, birth, post-partum, and 18 months with little Taj (who had also never been sick til a couple weeks ago). I pride myself on never getting sick but I suppose as a parent, the lack of proper uninterrupted sleep is enough to have you catching something when it's going around. And the worse bit, you can't sleep it off with a mini human needing you.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So, on top of all dietary and supplemental protocols I had myself on, this was a deliciously comforting, warm and deeply nourishing drink I made and looked forward to drinking ~ AND it was helping my immune system with every sip!</div>

When Taj started wanting foods early on, and as Taj has moved from pureed foods to mashed foods to finger foods, I have always given him the foods Brock and I eat. We don't sit down to steak and roast veg and feed him fish fingers and potato chips. Taj is a little human. HUMAN. So his nutritional needs are the same a big humans (in fact he needs better nutrition and more nutrients as he is growing at such a phenomenal rate). I'm not talking macros, micros, calories and so on. I'm talking REAL FOOD. He needs real food to thrive just as I do. And that's exactly what I feed him. So after my last blog outlining <a href="http://www.christiefischer.com/2018/06/good-old-fashioned-baby-foods-to.html" target="_blank">what and how I started feeding Taj from 6 months of age</a>, I wanted to dive deeper and share what I'm doing with him now that he is almost 15 months young.<br>
<br>
I once read that what a pregnant woman eats whilst pregnant has a huge impact on the growing child in terms of their tastebuds during their lifetime (of course we know what mama eats impacts bubba directly for many reasons, but tastebuds was a new thing to me). Essentially I recall this study presenting facts to show that the wider range of TASTES mama eats whilst pregnant will mean bubba is likely to eat a wide range also. When I was pregnant I was sure to eat sweet, salty, bitter, sour, meaty, fermented and so on... and besides being an already wholefood-eating-family, I feel this has made a big impact on the fact that Taj has always been an incredible little eater.</div>

Before I had Taj I'm sure I had my own ideas and preferences around what I would or would not feed my child. But as I have found, yes feeding a small human is straight forward and simple, but it is also challenging, time consuming, and frustrating at times. In the early days of Taj eating I would so often actually forget about making food for him. I'd cook, sit down in a tired heap, put dinner down for Brock and I, only to look at Taj and think "oh fuck I've got nothing for him!" 😣Which I honestly think is why he is such a good eater now and always has been - because I've always given him what we eat (he has also always been an exceptional breast feeder... no doubt trying to survive if mum forgets to feed him 😂)</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-EqmDT18CNDM/WwzEJeVQsUI/AAAAAAAAGk8/mUOsZjl5zYMOVggTf-Sxee3AJOjyPIBJgCLcBGAs/s1600/yogurt.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="450" data-original-width="680" height="422" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-EqmDT18CNDM/WwzEJeVQsUI/AAAAAAAAGk8/mUOsZjl5zYMOVggTf-Sxee3AJOjyPIBJgCLcBGAs/s640/yogurt.png" width="640"></a></div>
<br>
<br>
These are actually some of my favourite gut healing foods of all time. But I wanted to mention them here especially on the cusp of Winter beginning as it seems to be the time we all jump into health practices again if we've let them slide. So these three can definitely be added back into your routine now as well.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Why amp up your gut now though? Well if you've been living under a rock, you might not know that our gut health is directly linked to our immune health, and Winter is often when our immune health takes a hit and the nasty colds, flu, snotty, drippy noses come in. So as PREVENTION is my jam (and treating issues and illness comes second) I'm gonna share with you all my fav foodie things to boost your immune system, ward off nasties, protect your gut, and improve the health of your entire system all in one! I also recommend increasing your intake of these foods should you happen to come down with anything over Winter. How's that for a win-win-win-win 😉</div>

I was trying to come up with a banging heading of sorts alluding to the fact that these are in no way health-ified as most of my recipes are... "No sugar coating here" (the irony being they're full of the stuff so that didn't really work) was one and then I kinda gave up knowing I'd get nowhere with what would only make me chuckle. So instead, Anzac Cookies. Anzac Style. </div>

<br>
Since using doTERRA essential oils, as I'm in love with these little gems, naturally (like anything we are interested in) our knowledge of them grows as we want to learn more about them. So it may roll of my tongue when I tell someone all the things I could use Lavender oil for (as an example) but for a newbie (as I once was) it can seem overwhelming trying to remember it all.<br>
<br>
So I thought, instead of just listing what you can use particular oils for, I've gone one step further to tell you HOW as well. Think of this as your go-to reference. Print it off even. Whatever gets you USING your oils instead of having them sit there, is what I am here to help you with.<br>

Gummies. Jelly. Jello. Chewy cubes. Whatever you wanna call them, as an adult, these are way more exciting to eat than you may first think. They wobble and jiggle and you kinda have to be on your chewing game or else the slippery suckers can go all over the place in your mouth. They are super fun, super yum, and so damn healing for your gut! I don't know anyone who wouldn't be happy munching on a couple of these each day for their gut health which I why I love them!</div>

I know I know. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but whether we like it or not (especially us Queenslanders), Winter will be here June 1st. It's inevitable. So with that in mind, and now with a family of my own, I want to empower you and your family to waltz into winter with wellness under your belt - and avoid the common cold, ferocious flu strains, niggly sore throats, head colds, and all round under-the-weather-ness.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Preventative Health is my passion, and one most people may not quite grasp until it’s too late. An ounce of prevention is worth it’s weight in gold in my books (touch wood, I’ve never once had the flu). </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
And I’m inviting YOU to come play with me online this April.</div>

Something most adults turn their noses up at (I’m cool - more for me) ☺️ but would you give it to your children? What about your bubba now eating solids? Yep! LIVER is a POWERHOUSE food forgotten these days, but slowly making a come back in those following a more traditional grandma-eating style 😝 It’s rich in IRON which bubba's need from about 6 months as they no longer get it from mama. It's also high in choline (for brain super powers), cholesterol (which we need for hormone synthesis), arachidonic acid (more brain development), minerals and vitamins - including the tricky-to-obtain B6 and B12! Poultry liver (that is, chicken)also has a great balance of A, D3 and K2!</div>

<br></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Happy 2018. It's not to late to be throwing those words around yet is it? It's only just February after all. It does always seem that January comes and goes in a flash though doesn't it? It's like a teaser, or a test, so when we get to early Feb we can go <i>holy moley that went fast</i>, and we can regroup, re-evaluate, pivot and change course if need be, and decide to move slower and be more present. Which is also why this year I have decided instead of writing out 2018 Goals + Intentions as one great big grandious 12-month thing - <i>#overwhelm -</i> instead I am writing my intentions month by month (<a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/BerM58aBCC1/?hl=en&taken-by=christiefischernutrition" target="_blank">see my Feb intentions here</a>). </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Which is why I want to tell you about what I'm doing at the moment, like right now, and forget about the whole "where I'm going in 2018" thing... coz I've discovered now as a mama to a small child, all we have is NOW. And it's a gift and a blessing to have realised this since having Taj. Well, I mean, I knew it before, but a bubba definitely solidifies it, and you can actually F E E L it, not just intellectualise it!</div>

I did a blog a few weeks ago on my top <a href="http://www.christiefischer.com/2017/11/mamas-my-top-5-tips-to-epic-eating-all.html" target="_blank">5 tips to epic eating all week</a> long as a (sleep-deprived, time-deprived) mama, and a friend of mine mentioned to me after she read it, (that she loved it, ☺️ and) "now all she needs to do is find some more recipes". Which got me thinking... (1) I need to create some more as I haven't done so in sooooo long - <i>#newbaby</i> - and (2) if we know the basis to a great nourishing meal, and have a handful of yummy suggestions to look too, then we can start making delicious + nutritious meals right away - without a list of recipes to look at (coz, honestly, do we really?).</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I'm going to share what I do when creating a meal - a quick, easy, no-brainer meal. I'll show you how my brain works in building it and the why's behind my choices. I'll have you know though, meal prep is key! <i>~ another post I need to write up!</i></div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
Before I had Taj I felt I knew enough about the sorts of foods I wanted to be fuelling my body with after I gave birth - all the yummy slow cooked, replenishing, nourishing, energy rich and healing foods. However, as any woman who has given birth may tell you, between "labour land" hormonal highs, ecstatic endorphin rich moments, sleepless nights, and days blurring into one another, the first week goes by so quickly you can be left wondering where it went.</div>

So as a nutritionist, an advocate of whole food eating, and your girlfriend in the fridge who wants to get you excited about epic eating, I wanted to give you a heads up on my favourite foods that if eaten post-birth will nourish you and rebuild you from the inside out. And if you know them now, you can prepare yourself to have them.</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
As a new mum I know how tough it can be to get any food in your mouth when you're hungry let alone good food. Between poor sleeping, navigating a new routine (heck, life change!!), breastfeeding, changing nappies and simply keeping the little one happy (which on days can be a full time job + overtime in and of itself)... its likely that a handful of nuts has equated a to 'meal', coffee has been breakfast, or you've realised its been half a day and you've barely had a bite of anything.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
There are simple ways to avoid this and start to eat epic nourishing foods all week long though. It just takes knowing how. And that's what I'm here to help you with.</div>

<br>
If you're anything like me, then you want to get your hands on all the books you can when you want to learn something specific. And falling pregnant was no different. However, besides What To Expect When You're Expecting, I knew of no other books and a quick google search will do your head in! I remember sitting at my favourite cafe in Cairns and doing just that - ordered a couple but they were not the ones I am listing here for you.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So I wanted to share the books that have been amazing and that have made the biggest impact on me - be it for easing fears around childbirth, teaching me exactly what's going on during those 9 months, the best foods to eat for certain growing periods of bubs, and so on..</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wGk0n4x-85g/Wi-i9-89AsI/AAAAAAAAGdc/yFI-wrAEHQIgaPD_r2wvAE1VyQKoQtULQCLcBGAs/s1600/NaturalLabourKit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="955" data-original-width="1274" height="478" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wGk0n4x-85g/Wi-i9-89AsI/AAAAAAAAGdc/yFI-wrAEHQIgaPD_r2wvAE1VyQKoQtULQCLcBGAs/s640/NaturalLabourKit.jpg" width="640"></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br>
<br>
I knew I wanted a natural and drug-free labour before I was even pregnant with our baby boy. Sure the picture of labour I had in my mind wasn't the prettiest thanks to Hollywood movies and medical TV shows making it look like the most painful thing a woman could go through (and it may be for some women), but as I'm a bit of a health nut, I wanted to do it without drugs in my system. However... I knew there could be other things I could do to help with what pain I may experience. So I went researching, reading, asking, listening and came up with quite a few things I decided to take into the birth suite with me. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So if you're anything like me, pregnant for the first time, and wanting alternative's to morphine and epidurals, I've done the hard work for you. Just copy and print ;)</div>
